Social Housing for the Elderly.

Plans for our social housing development are at a very advanced stage we are glad to report. The plans are on display at Centra Castlelyons and in Coolagown. This is a development of twelve houses at Bridesbridge adjacent to the church. This is an ideal location being next to the church, bus stop, post office, supermarket & local hostelry. There are six two bed roomed houses and six one bed roomed houses. A communal room will also be built on the site, which will be a meeting/social centre and will also have facilities for a doctor/nurse, hairdresser, chiropodist etc, and a tearoom. Planning permission will be applied for within the next couple of weeks and hopefully building will commence early to mid summer. Applications are still welcome, these houses will be most suitable to anyone living alone or a couple wishing to move nearer the hub of the parish for convenience or a couple or person wishing to move back to Castlelyons from another part of the country or abroad.

Update
The sheltered housing development has now recirved charitable status, and planning permission is pending. Fundraising for this will be the main function of the community council in the near future.
