About Castlelyons Parish

Castlelyons is situated 5 miles south of the town of Fermoy in County Cork, Ireland. The parish is full of history and has some beautiful historical and natural sights, many of which can be seen through out this website. The parish of Castlelyons today is made up of three main districts - Coolagown, Britway and Castlelyons/Bridesbridge. Three quarters of the parish extend along the banks of the river Bride.

Be it relaxation or activity you are looking for you will find it in Castlelyons. There are very good facilities for hunting, shooting and fishing and there is both a gun club and an angling club. The village has an excellent pitch & putt course over looking the Sean Abhainn stream and a lovely picnic area. Crossing the river into the village are two stone bridges - one a little footbridge and the other a bridge which was part of the entrance into the Barrymore Castle. A GAA pitch and squash courts are also among some of our many amenities.

The parish has two beautiful churches at Bridesbridge and Coolagown, and also boasts a Castle, two Abbeys, a Mausoleum, two Holy Wells, and many, many other historical sights.
