Castlelyons Community Employment Scheme
At present there are 15 workers plus a supervisor employed. All the workers partake in training programmes during the year. The scheme runs for 12 months and a new application has to be made annually. The CES workers have been involved in major projects throughout the parish over the past number of years. The bridge in the picnic park, the amenity area by the river in Bridesbridge, flower beds and stone walls in Castlelyons and Coolagown, stone piers and gates in Coolagown, upgrading Community Centre, Forge & water spout in Coolagown, litter control in Castlelyons and Bridesbridge, maintenance of Church grounds, P&P course, GAA and Soccer pitches, green areas in Castlelyons & Bridesbridge, planting flowers.
During the past year the work undertaken includes listing headstones of Britway cemetery, upgrade kitchen in Community Centre, building Forge sculpture in Coolagown as well as maintenance of Castlelyons and Bridesbridge.

Castlelyons Community Council have been sponsors of FAS Community Employment Schemes in the parish since 1992. The clubs, which have availed of this service, are the GAA, Soccer, Pitch & Putt, Castlelyons Tidy Towns, Coolagown Development Group, Community Centre and Church.
