Castlelyons Flower and Garden Club was founded in October 2001
The Club meets once a month usually on the second Wednesday of the month. In the winter time we are generally indoors where we would have flower arranging demonstrations or talks on landscaping or something of seasonal interest. In the spring and summertime we try to visit Garden Centres or open Gardens and we would also have an outing in the summer and maybe something smaller in the autumn.
We produce a diary of events for the year usually in February when the club recommences after the Winter break. This gives everybody an idea of what is up and coming for the year ahead. We also have a discount card from Vinnie Joes Garden Centre in Castlelyons, which entitles each member to a 10% discount on their purchases. We are very grateful for this gesture.
We are a very young Club so we are constantly learning from each other especially from our more experienced and mature members. We have great fun and we try to keep things relaxed and casual. We are constantly looking for new ideas and suggestions and of course new members. At present we have thirty eight members.
The November meeting was a visit from Fermoy
Woodlands Nurseries and they gave us a very informative talk on trees and their
care. The December/Xmas was a festive floral demonstration and this was a joint
effort between the Club and Castlelyons Ladies Club as a fund raiser for the
Community Centre. This was a very successful night and was very well supported
and we were able to raise funds of €800 which will be presented to the
committee at a later date. If you wish to make contact the following is a list
